Pressure is growing on the UK to increase the number of coronavirus tests it carries out, following news it has never once hit its 10,000-a-day target. The lack of testing of health workers mean a third are now self-isolating at home because someone they live with has displayed symptoms. The average daily figure for testing has been 4,573 and as of Sunday, Britain had carried out a total of 78,340 tests. This compares with 206,886 in Italy and over 170,000 in Germany.
