The area has been dubbed a black spot by locals, with some drivers blatently ignoring the speed limit. When The Looker went to the scene, editor David Wimble said; “The road is a 60 MPH road, but some of these cars are travelling close to 100! Although locally it is known as Brenzette straight the road actually has some long sweeping bends, and if you get a car overtaking, especially around the Old Romney staggered crossroads or leaving scycamore farm industrial units, sometimes the cars are upon you before you know it!”

The police were called just before 1pm to Lydd Road in Old Romney to reports of an accident.
They closed part of the road for an hour and the man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
The road reopened shortly before 2pm.
