I am organising an Apprenticeship Fair, which will incorporate my 3rd Jobs Fair at The Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone on Thursday 1st October to put people looking for work, in touch with the local firms who have vacancies to fill.
New jobs and apprenticeships are being created, both locally and across the region every week. Shepway has many growing businesses, both new and old, which are looking for staff. Despite this, I understand that for many who are unemployed often the main challenge is finding the right opportunities; and this is where the jobs fair comes in.
As well as exhibiting companies, this year we have Kent Apprentice of the Year, Joe Kent giving a talk to students at 11am and an excellent seminar programe running throughout the day including Young Entrepreneurs from Kent Start-up Talent.
Last year many opportunities were created and we know that some were successful in finding new opportunities as a direct consequence of the Folkestone jobs fair.
I hope that this year will prove as successful as 2013 and 2014 helping many more Folkestone and New Romney people find new career paths. We also have seminars providing employment and training advice on the day. It will serve as an opportunity for all job seekers out there to connect with jobs right for them.
