A lorry driver has died at the scene of a crash on the M20 in Kent which also left a man with a serious leg injury.

The collision was at 02:00 BST on the London-bound carriageway near Maidstone.

A 19-year-old Vauxhall Corsa driver was hit by another car after he got out of his vehicle.

Medics treated the teenager for a serious leg injury before taking him to King’s College Hospital in London by road, accompanied by members of the air ambulance crew.

The 44-year-old lorry driver, from Poland, then suffered a suspected heart attack and was pronounced dead. Police are hunting for the second car.

The London-bound M20 was closed between junctions six and seven for eight hours, with long queues of rush-hour traffic building up.

Police have now issued an appeal for witnesses to the incidents.

Det Sgt Scott Lynch said it was a dark colour and is likely to have suffered significant damage to the front.
