Fire fighters were called to a fire in a kitchen at a single-storey house in The Parade, Greatstone. Fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to the scene. Crews wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire, which spread to the roof space of the property, using a hose reel and a main jet. There are no reported casualties and the cause is not yet known. But an eye witness told The Looker that a man was treated for Smoke inhalation.
The coast road is currently shut, with police stating that it could be shut for a number of hours.

Update 12.37pm Firefighters are dealing with a fire at a single-storey house in The Parade, Greatstone. Four fire engines and a height vehicle are at the scene. Crews wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire, in the kitchen and roof space of the property, using hose reels, main jets, fog spike and water from a hydrant, as well as a height vehicle. One man required oxygen therapy for the effects of breathing in smoke. Kent Police are also on the scene to manage traffic in the area. Motorist are advised to seek alternative routes.

Update 2.20pm: Firefighting has now been scaled down and one fire engine remains on the scene of a fire that involved the kitchen and roof of a house in The Parade, Greatstone. The British Red Cross emergency support vehicle and Kent Fire and Rescue Service’s Volunteer Response Team are in attendance to support residents. Crews are damping down remaining hotspots.
