LYDD IN LIGHTS
Business (almost) as Usual!
Lydd Town Council is planning to go ahead with the Lydd in Lights competition again this year and are hoping that residents of the Parish will participate in decorating the exterior of their properties as in previous years with outdoor festive lighting and decorations which bring joy and a smile to people’s faces at Christmas time in Lydd.
Councillor Goddard has set the date of 14th December 2020 for the judging but will wait until after 2nd December announcements by the Government to plan the finer details and arrangements.
Councillor Goddard said “ I am hoping that Lydd in Lights displays will be bigger and better this year to bring Christmas cheer as it has been a dreadful year and I hope that the festive lights will brighten up the Parish of Lydd!. Judging will take place on the 14th December so please have your decorations looking at their best for then. It is very unlikely that we would be able to hold the Christmas reception to present the prizes this year but we will make sure that the winning properties receive their vouchers and certificates before Christmas which we hope will bring some Christmas cheer during this difficult time. As in previous years the prizes will be vouchers to spend in local businesses which will give a small boost to the local economy”.
If you would like to nominate a property who you feel have done a great job of decorating in the festive spirit then please email your nominations to the Town Clerk
townclerk@lyddtown.org before 12 noon on 14th December 2020
As in previous years there will be winning displays chosen from both Lydd Town and Coast and there will be an additional prize for the best display which is also raising money for a Charity.
