IMG_6029Firemen were called today to an abandoned Sand Buggy, which burst into flames whilst being driven off road at the bottom of Church Lane, in New Romney this afternoon. Workers from the New Romney Recycling Centre quickly rushed over to extinguish the flames. Graham Collard told The Looker; “we could hear the buggy tearing about, all of a sudden we heard shouting and saw the driver running away from the buggy which was well and truly alight”. Looking at the buggy it looks like the fuel tank worked lose and ignited from the heat of the engine. Judging by the way the kids ran away it is thought that the buggy could have been either stolen or the driver was aware that it should not have been driven of road on private land.
