There has been a certain amount of speculation over the past 12 months as to what the fate would be for the 16th century former coach house, when the pub was put on the market last year.

Several people have been against a franchised national chain of coffee shops coming to the town, however many of the people that The Looker spoke to today (Saturday 18th June) said, Its nice to see the building open and looking so smart inside.IMG_0027

The building has undergone some major repairs both inside and out since the new owners took over the freehold last year.

Some people have complained that New Romney already has 3  coffee shops in the town and by adding a multi national chain to the town could jeopardise the existing businesses.

One local resident popped into the Looker office and commented: “Its not about buying coffee, its about buying into a lifestyle and the coffee shop culture, I think that having Costa on the high street will definitely add to the High Street, but I don’t think it will effect the existing businesses.”
