An estimated two thousand people attended the annual Sandgate Sea Festival, despite fears of bad weather. However the rain stayed away for the day and locals mixed with tourist to enjoy the ambiance of the Sandgate Riviera as stall holders sold a mixture of fancy foods and also handmade products, whilst listening to a non-stop mixture of live music, performed by a large selection of local musicians, along with children’s entertainment supplied by street entertainers and also a traditional Punch & Judy man.

The event, which is organised by the Sandgate Parish Council, has grown year on year and along with the raft race organised by the Sandgate Rowing Club helped ensure that people had something to look at on the sea as well as the land.
Our Looker highlight however was a dance display by the Local Gurka Dance troupe which had hundreds of visitors spellbound on the beach.
