David Monk, Leader of Shepway District Council has told the Looker that Folkestone could still have an Air Show this year despite, the former Independent Management Company (Open Air Promotions), who had previously organised the last ‘attempt’ at staging the Folkestone Airshow went into administration.
Mr Monk told The Looker; “Funding was set aside in our 2015/16 budget for a Red Arrows display, but the display itself was dependent on an organiser coming forward for a Folkestone airshow where the team could perform, and this has not happened.
However in the last few weeks we have been working with an event organiser and we are confident that an airshow can be held in the district this year. We have committed money to this and to an air display.
We will be in a position to publicise more details, in conjunction with the organisers, within a few weeks.”
