David Plumstaed very much alive and well
It was with sadness that the audience of residents, councillors and Shepway District Council representatives at Monday night’s Extra-Ordinary Hythe TC meeting received the news from Chairman Michael Lyons of the death of David Plumstead’s brother. This meant that David, a vociferous environmental campaigner for the protection of Shepway’s green spaces, was unable to make his anticipated robust defence of Hythe Green in the face of sale to SDC for development of the new leisure centre. The Looker’s condolences go to his family at this challenging time, but we feel sure that David will once again be making his views felt on the controversial result of the Town Council Meeting very soon. Not so sure will be the Folkestone Herald, which unfortunately announced the death of David himself on its website the next morning – we believe that David is in rude enough health to be uttering Mark Twain’s immortal words about exaggerated reports of his death quietly under his breath as we write…
