A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rainfall across Kent today.
The Met Office issued the alert on Saturday, which remains in place until midnight, with downpours and flooding anticipated. Some areas could see between 80 and 100mm of rainfall, with the warning extending across large portions of the country.
The Met Office has cautioned that some communities may be isolated due to flooded roads, while spray is expected to make driving conditions challenging for commuters.
There is also a risk of power cuts and potential disruption to other services affecting homes and businesses.
The warning covers a wide area of both England and Wales.
Transport Disruptions
Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are expected. A reduced train service is currently operating from Tunbridge Wells to Hastings due to flooding in Wadhurst.
Preparing for Floods
Residents are advised to check whether their property is at risk and to consider creating a flood plan and assembling an emergency kit. Motorists should review road conditions before setting out, and households are encouraged to gather essential items such as torches, battery packs, and other supplies in the event of a power outage.
Flood Alert
A flood alert has also been issued for the River Bourne, affecting the area from Hadlow to East Peckham. Low-lying lands and roads in Little Mill and Hadlow are expected to be most at risk, although properties are not expected to be affected at this stage.
